Austin families took to Texas's Education Freedom Accounts quickly. Austin ISD residents alone held 1,020 funded accounts by late July, and the suburbs added thousands more. What most families still lack is a clear picture of how the account fits with a school's own aid, the Diocese of Austin's Beacon of Hope scholarship, IEP funding, ACC dual credit, child care scholarships and the 2027 federal credit. That's the gap we fill.
A School Funding Advisor looks at each family's situation, sketches a plan to pay for school, and points the family toward campuses where that money can be used. A private partner that helps church-run and community schools grow supports our work. We disclose that relationship wherever it applies, and it doesn't change what we recommend.
Where the school data comes from
Where TEFA status comes from. On October 12, 2026 we downloaded the participating-school finder that Odyssey operates for the Texas Comptroller (finder.educationfreedom.texas.gov). Every school and pre-K provider it lists in Travis, Williamson, Hays, Bastrop and Caldwell counties is in our directory, along with the programs, discounts and descriptions the school submitted. To be listed, a school must hold accreditation from TEA or a TEPSAC-recognized accreditor, have at least two years of operation behind it, and test its students annually.
Where enrollment and affiliation come from. The U.S. Department of Education's Private School Survey supplies enrollment, teacher counts, religious orientation and association memberships. We use the 2023-24 public-use file and fall back to 2021-22 when a school skipped the latest round. The survey also surfaces long-running Austin schools that haven't joined TEFA, so all 166 K-12 schools in our tables come from one source or both.
Why some schools have profiles and others don't. We build a profile only when public records support one: federal enrollment and staff figures, or a TEFA listing with a meaningful description or a list of programs. Schools without a profile still appear in the directory tables, and any school can claim its listing to fill in the gaps.
Where the dollar figures come from. Award amounts, allowable expenses and pre-K eligibility rules are from educationfreedom.texas.gov. District counts of funded students come from the TEFA Annual Demographic Report (as of July 29, 2026), and IEP totals from the Comptroller's 2026-27 Special Education Funding Table. Diocese of Austin details come from the diocese's Catholic schools office and austindiocese.news, and Austin TEFA figures from Community Impact and City Cast Austin reporting. Neither public source reports tuition.
Texas doesn't keep a registry of private schools, so gaps are possible. If you know a Austin-area school we've missed, let us know and we'll verify it and add it.
Austin Edu Funding is a project of Boss Leads. We are not a school, the Texas Comptroller, Odyssey, the Catholic Diocese of Austin, or a government agency.
