Which Catholic schools take TEFA
In our October 11 finder pull, Catholic schools in the program included St. Louis, St. Theresa, St. Austin, St. Ignatius Martyr, the Cathedral School of St. Mary, Holy Family, St. Dominic Savio, San Juan Diego, St. Michael's Catholic Prep, Santa Cruz in Buda, St. Helen in Georgetown and St. Mary's in Taylor. St. Gabriel's Catholic School, which reported 873 students to the federal survey, did not appear under that name.
What the diocese says
Superintendent Misty Poe published a column in November 2025 under the campaign name "Catholic Schools: Your Choice, Their Future," urging families to consider TEFA for Catholic school. The diocese's schools office links TEFA from its affordability page.
Beacon of Hope
The diocese's need-based scholarship, paid from a Catholic Foundation endowment and applied for through FACTS Grant & Aid. A diocesan school page lists a January 1 to March 1 window and one-year awards.
Smaller sources that add up
Saints & Scholars Gala proceeds (about $150,000 a year), Catholic Foundation endowment income (about $115,000), ACE Scholarships for new students at ACE partner schools, Folds of Honor for military families, and parish partnership aid in some Central Austin parishes.
High school is where the gap is
TEFA pays the same in grade 10 as in grade 2. At St. Dominic Savio, San Juan Diego or St. Michael's, plan to combine the award with school aid, any rollover from earlier years, and ACC dual credit where the school allows it.
