Austin Community College's high school programs page says dual credit is open to private and homeschool students as well as public and charter students, as long as they live in ACC's service area. Public, private and charter students attend through a partnering school.
ACC's homeschool dual credit page says eligible service-area students get tuition and general fees waived on eligible dual credit courses, up to 60 credit hours. Families still pay for textbooks and materials, and courses outside the core curriculum, languages and workforce areas are charged full tuition.
That makes TEFA useful at the edges. Higher-education tuition and fees are an approved TEFA expense, so textbooks, materials and any non-waived course can come from the account, and money a younger child didn't spend can be saved for these years.
Homeschool students need a memorandum of understanding with ACC before they register. ACC assigns each one a liaison based on the public high school they would otherwise attend.
Combining it with other sources
Most families pair this with the school's own aid and one or two other sources on this site. A funding check lays out which combination works for your child and in what order to apply.
